Changed the filter, but the light is still on?
Filter indicators do not all mean the same thing, and the reset control changes by model. Start with the complete purifier model, then use only the matching manufacturer manual below.
Find your exact model
Keep the complete model code and every suffix. If you are not sure which number is the purifier model, use the model-label guide first. The procedures on this page are limited to the models and source manuals named here; a similar product name is not enough.
| Exact model named in source | What its manual says about the indicator | After changing a filter | Manufacturer source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Levoit Core 200S · model code LAP-C201S-AUSR | The manual calls it a reminder to check the filter. When it lights, the manual says a replacement may not be needed yet; inspect the filter using that manual's guidance. | With the purifier on, hold the Sleep Mode button for 3 seconds. The indicator blinks three times and turns off. The manual also documents a reset when a filter is changed before the light appears. | Levoit Core 200S manual · US source ↗ |
| Coway Airmega AP-1512HH | The manual distinguishes the Odor LED for the deodorization filter from the HEPA LED for the True HEPA filter. Its stated service cycles assume 8 hours at maximum speed and may vary with the operating environment. | After replacement, press Reset for 2 seconds. If you replaced early, the manual documents a separate forced-reset mode: hold Reset for 2 seconds, select Odor with one press or HEPA with two presses, then hold Reset for 2 seconds. No input for 5 seconds cancels that mode. | Coway AP-1512HH manual · US source ↗ |
| WINIX 5500-2 | The manual says the Check Filter indicator means to replace the True HEPA and washable AOC carbon filters. It lists a 14-day pre-filter cleaning interval and says replacement intervals can vary with the environment. | After replacing the True HEPA filter and closing the front panel, turn the unit on and hold Filter Reset with a thin object, such as a paper clip, for at least 5 seconds until it beeps. | WINIX 5500-2 manual · US source ↗ |
If the light stays on
- Check the full model on the purifier label. Do not use another model's button sequence.
- Follow that model's manual to confirm the filter is seated and the indicator reset completed.
- If the indicator still does not clear, stop repeating unverified button sequences and contact the manufacturer with the model and a description of what happened.
- Keep filter fit and filter performance as separate questions. This page does not verify an aftermarket filter, diagnose a faulty panel, or make a health or air-quality judgment.
Alen BreatheSmart filter reset
If you searched for “Alen BreatheSmart filter reset,” start with the exact BreatheSmart model and its Alen support article. Alen’s official BreatheSmart Classic troubleshooting article says to leave the purifier powered on and hold the FILTER button for about 5 seconds until the indicator returns to green. Other BreatheSmart variants can use different controls or manuals, so do not transfer this sequence to a 45i, 75i, FLEX, FIT50, or another model without checking its own article.

Alen BreatheSmart 45i filter reset and filter code
If you searched for “Alen 45i filter reset,” confirm that the label says BreatheSmart 45i before using the model-specific article. The 45i family uses B4 filter codes: B4-Pure/B4-Essential, B4-Fresh/B4-Advanced, and B4-Odor/B4-Ultimate. Older VOC listings can be discontinued, so the code and current manufacturer listing should be checked together.
Reset the indicator only after the filter is seated and the purifier is powered on, following the 45i article for the exact control sequence. Do not copy the Classic five-second sequence to a 45i without checking the model article.

Alen BreatheSmart 75i filter reset and filter code
For “Alen 75i filter reset” or “Alen 75i filter code,” verify the exact 75i model and use the 75i support article. The 75i family uses B7 filter codes: B7-Pure/B7-Essential, B7-Fresh/B7-Advanced, and B7-Odor/B7-Ultimate. A B7 code is not a substitute for a B4 45i or BF35 Classic code.
Install the matching filter first, then follow the manufacturer’s 75i reset instructions. If the light remains on, record the model suffix and filter code before repeating a reset or contacting Alen support.

Why this guide is model-scoped
Public owner questions show two different problems: uncertainty about whether an indicator means “check” or “replace,” and difficulty resetting a counter after a replacement made early. These discussions are individual reports, not estimates of how common either problem is. Community button suggestions can conflict, so this guide uses manufacturer manuals for every procedure.
Examples that surfaced this need: a Levoit Core 200S indicator question and a Coway AP-1512HH early-reset question. Forum responses are not used as instructions.
